Olympics....
Just about half way through the Olympics and so enjoying it and what great admiration I have for the years of dedication, training and perseverance for the many and varied athletes.
There must be so many days when it’s difficult to get out of bed in the
mornings to train, especially for the swimmers when it’s cold and the weather may
be miserable, but they carry on regardless with the help of their families and
loved ones to reach for their dreams.
Something likes this gives us all hope in these very trying times that the
world is going through.
There have been so many moments of sheer joy and excellence even at this
early stage. Australia, despite our comparatively
small population in relation to many countries of the world, punch well above
our weight in so many sports.
Swimming is a joy...a sheer joy to watch. The trainer of Ariarne Titmus when she won the 800 metres freestyle final said that’s five years of hard work to reach that speed, that goal, when she beat Americas record holder Katie Ledecky.
We can only imagine what that means and it seems unfair to just point out
one swimmer amongst the many greats. The dedication I am in awe...complete
awe.
Nine Gold Medals Three Silver and Eight Bronze in all in the pool our best
result ever I’m pretty sure...or for a very very long time and an inspiration
for many young up and coming future athletes to go out and also reach for your
dreams. Inspirational indeed!
Even a gold medal in BMX today ... who would have thought that! Logan
Martin...named after Logan where he was born in Brisbane ...amazing! And there
are more medals to come in this meet I am certain.
As I say there are far too many to mention but everyone, every athlete, has
done themselves and their country very proud indeed.
So well done...so very well done!!
