Bond...James Bond...

Bond...James Bond... I guess by now all the many 007 James Bond fans have seen the latest... No Time To Die. The final for Daniel Craig...unless he makes some kind of ghostly re-appearance at some future date! Sean Connery and Daniel Craig..for me..were/are the two best James Bond characters.   One of the most memorable pieces of music from the 26 Bond films so far is the very first from the legendary John Barry. Dr. No ....the one that set the trend for following Bond movies starring, of course,  Sean Connery and who could forget Ursula Andress magically appearing from the surf in THAT bikini !   In no particular order Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever, from the also legendary Shirley Bassey, are powerful; as is her dynamic and very distinctive one of a kind voice.   Thunderball sung by Tom Jones is equally powerful and takes us on a journey...whereas the softly sung and very beautiful  From Russia With Love by Matt Monroe# has special significance for me as I remember

Food Wastage...

Image
Has anyone else noticed the amount of food wastage people leave on their plates?  As we sat down for coffee this morning the plates had yet to be cleared from previous customers. Just barely a bite taken from each! I have noticed times, too numerous to even mention, where a snack is served with a salad on the side of the plate only for people to leave the salad altogether! It amazes me that people would eat...whatever..served with chips (french fries in the U.S.) eat the chips and leave the healthiest part of the meal...the salad...on the plate only to be thrown away. It's not just there for decoration it's there for nourishment. The care and attention that someone has gone to to grow it..care for it..pick it and package it and send to market to be delivered to the shop only to end up in the rubbish bin. The farmer must be heartbroken if they only knew. Of course they would have been paid...most likely not enough...but paid all the same. But that's really not the point! Jus

Before Social Media...

Just got to thinking... Back in the days before social media...which wasn't really that long ago..we had the threat of another form of  Coronavirus... SARS severe acute respiratory syndrome. In November 2002 this form of atypical pneumonia began spreading around the world in which the World Health Organisation declared it to be "a world wide heath threat."  It was scary...often in the news and no one knew exactly what to expect. SARS was an airborne virus...the same as Covid-19 now. It was the first severe transmissible disease to emerge in the 21st century. Spread the same way the current pandemic is now by droplets of saliva, surfaces that have been touched by someone infected by the virus, and spread quickly around the world by international travel. The illness spread to 29 countries where 8096 people caught it and 774 of those people died. Only eight people in the United States caught SARS and none of them died. The SARS outbreak was contained in July 2003. Since 200
