Why is changing barbers so difficult?
I’ve been going to this regular guy for a while now. Just get used to him
and he closes the business to move somewhere else too far away. Thanks Jeremy :) Always
such a good cut and he said “Really it cuts itself,” I wish that were true it
would save me some money over the years.
I’m not really one for small talk. I hate it at places for drinks and you
have to make small talk with someone you would never normally meet. Have no idea
what to say and just mumble from one thing to the next hoping it will soon be
time to go. Maybe that’s why I’m never invited out much!
Well that’s me...sorry for being honest but there it is!
So a new barber. Well I finally plucked up the courage, yes for me it takes
courage, and tried one. Nice enough guy, friendly and the conversation flowed
easily. What was I worried about? I have NO idea.
You have to be a good communicator to be a barber. Just say enough...but
not too much to offend. Gather the news and share it but friendly..always
friendly.
I know I couldn’t do it. I would be hopeless and when it came to using the
cut throat razor...oooh I couldn’t trust myself. “Was that your ear just
dropped on the floor? Sorry about that!" as blood gushes like some Sweeny Todd
caricature. The trap door opens and the victim falls through the floor and if
you know the real story of the *Demon Barber of Fleet Street London back in the
the late 1700’s the flesh of his victims were served up by his lover “in
apparently highly regarded meat pies”.
What a lovely thought to end on.... *
"He kept a shop in London Town,
Of fancy clients and good renown,
And what if none of their souls were saved?
They went to their maker impeccably shaved."
The Ballad of Sweeney Todd in Stephen Sondheim's popular musical.
