The Ukraine Invasion...

It's now been four weeks since President Putins bad decision to "try" to take Ukraine against much local resistance. More than he or his generals ever expected.

There were no flowers and and open arms from the populace waiting to be rescued "from the dreaded nazis" as was told to the Russian people as an excuse for the attack.

One mans ego has changed everything and still, at this stage, we are on the edge of world war 3. We all pray that won't be the case.

To date 6.5 million people have been displaced within Ukraine and in excess of 3.6 million have already left the country as refugees to surrounding countries where an unknown future awaits them.

One quarter of the entire population of 44 million have been forced from their homes. Their lives changed from a normal daily family routine to becoming displaced people, losing their homes, their loved ones, their men taking up arms to fight. Many never having held, let alone used, a gun in their lives.

As the world tightens sanctions against Russia numerous luxury super yachts belonging to the elite rich oligarchs and their many private jets have been seized or grounded. The Rubel has crashed..the stock market, closed since Feb 25 has just opened to limited trading. 

Russian news outlets have stopped reporting on the deaths of its soldiers as censors have forbidden any discussion on the invasion. But according to Russian defence  ministry data almost 10,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in action..some sources say 15,000 Russian troops may have died so far. and over 16,000 have been wounded. Although that figure has been quickly disputed and said their site had been hacked. The figures were quickly taken down.

Ukrainians continue to be killed in indiscriminate bombings. Death and injured numbers vary the latest around one thousand killed almost two thousand injured but these figures are way way low as Mariupol  has been completely flattened and around 100,000 people remain trapped in the ruined city facing starvation amid constant and unrelenting Russian bombardment with, at this stage, no way out, no safe corridors to leave the besieged city. No power,,no heating surviving in frozen conditions without food and medical aid. 

1,300 people still remain trapped in the bombed Mariupol theater. With little chance of being rescued.

How will this end ..we have no idea. We hope and pray it ends soon before the whole world is dragged into this conflict as could so easily happen. It will just take one stray bomb to hit a NATO country or for President Putin to use chemical/biological or a nuclear weapon and it would be full on...
