We live in a Google or Siri world for sure where a virtual assistant, on instant command, will turn lights on and off, beckoned music appears from hidden speakers around the house and jokes are relayed by a distant metallic voice. It's great when it all works but the setting up can be a worry sometimes...

We were at a friends place the other morning and he asked to switch the TV on...when the lights came on instead...great fun! 

"Classical music please?"....and the TV comes on again after being switched off previously😖

"Lights?". Maybe...but not all...just some come on...and the TV switches on again !

It's great when it all works it's just the setting up part that takes the time 😏

I often wonder what our grandparents would say of such things where we don't even have to get out of our chair now to actually do anything. Not even a remote control for the TV it can also now be voice activated.

Weather, instant news, cooking recipes, set the timer, any historical questions, or just tell us a joke; it's all there at our command. 

Not even the need for a large set of those dictionaries on the book shelf. I remember when I was growing up in the U.K. people would actually come to the door..call around homes..trying to sell sets of dictionaries. Maybe many were students on commission I guess. They were so expensive that you could even pay them off on account. Now everything is at our voice control or fingertips on the lap top.

How times have changed thanks to Google/Siri. Great for people on their own just to have someone to talk to and receive an answer back or to make an emergency call for help. A lifeline to the outside world.  

Whatever next... always wondered about smell TV when the cooking shows are on. Just imagine that?     I think we would all put on so much weight. Every time a delicious meal was prepared we would  be off to the kitchen for a snack...😄😄

I just asked the Google lady where she lives...the reply "I live in a Google cloud...so technically I still live with my parents!".

Yes our grandparents would REALLY be confused...I know I am at times😲

Trouble at both ends of the scale......

Firstly //    It's called "elder abuse" and it seems to be growing for some unexplainable reason.  In some cases it's neglect...pure and simple... but in most it's stealing money that isn't yours from parents that are not able to look after themselves, or their money, properly. Often without them even knowing until it's far too late. Maybe as money becomes tighter for some...but even then that's no excuse!  Just reading about a case locally where a son living in another state stole...yes stole... over a million dollars from his elderly mother. Transferring the money from her account over a period of a few years and also used her debit card in unauthorised purchases for his own use. Leaving her with very little in her bank account to survive. She had no idea until it was almost all gone. Really who can you trust if you can't trust your own family...beyond belief really isn't it but it seems this is a common occurrence. More common than we think.

Just day dreaming....

  Just a pleasant quiet place I like to sit and ponder on things. Where I've been, where I'm going, you know the usual stuff. Watching the world go by as I sit under the shade of a tree listening to the birds singing and appreciating life around me. It's been a long and often bumpy ride to where I am today and who knows what tomorrow may bring. All good things we hope. That's what I always say anyway...as I buy another lottery ticket!😊 There always has to be something to look forward to or what's the point.  There is so much sadness in the world right now I know. Has there ever been a time when there wasn't any sadness in the world. If there was, I can't remember just when. There are people still preaching the end of the world as we know it and the doomsday clock, as it's called, is ever approaching the bewitching hour. Should we be nervous...should we be scared? I guess so but we seem to have been living "on the edge" for so long now I guess

On a lighter note...

 Do you talk to your pet? Of course you do, everyone does, although some would not admit to it 😃 "How did you sleep?...have any dreams?" I ask as I uncover my parrot...YES parrot!! I know..I know..but we all do it 😏 "Just going out now...see you soon", as I leave the apartment, I call to a bewildered looking bird alone in her cage..sorry house...don't like the term cage...think I have mentioned that before. On return "Hello love👋👋," and met with screams of welcome home or in bird language it could just  mean ...LET ME OUT.....LET ME OUT you idiot leaving me alone...what are you thinking...expletive..expletive!!  Which of course I obey and once the welcome scratches and more talking has taken place, she takes up residence on the bed...or the lounge...or the drawer, whichever is the preference that moment.
