Garland on Netflix...

Image
I watched an enjoyable..maybe enjoyable is the wrong word..an interesting movie last night on Netflix...JUDY starring Renee Zellweger as Judy Garland. It certainly takes you on a journey. I recommend it...if you have Netflix of course!   I must have missed this the first time around when it was first released in 2019.   Dead at the very young age of 47 Judy Garlands life, although there must have been many highlights, seemed sad and often lonely. Continually put down by studio executives when young and told she was not pretty enough and came from “the wrong side of the tracks” and was lucky to be where she was. Studio chief Louis B. Mayer, it is said, called her his “little hunchback”. Which is surely enough to give anyone a complex! Fed soup to stay thin when she really craved ‘real food’ no wonder she had her problems plus lots of exercise to minimise her curves.    Today this would be called child abuse by any stretch of the imaginatio...

Bond...James Bond...

Bond...James Bond... I guess by now all the many 007 James Bond fans have seen the latest... No Time To Die. The final for Daniel Craig...unless he makes some kind of ghostly re-appearance at some future date! Sean Connery and Daniel Craig..for me..were/are the two best James Bond characters.   One of the most memorable pieces of music from the 26 Bond films so far is the very first from the legendary John Barry. Dr. No ....the one that set the trend for following Bond movies starring, of course,  Sean Connery and who could forget Ursula Andress magically appearing from the surf in THAT bikini !   In no particular order Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever, from the also legendary Shirley Bassey, are powerful; as is her dynamic and very distinctive one of a kind voice.   Thunderball sung by Tom Jones is equally powerful and takes us on a journey...whereas the softly sung and very beautiful  From Russia With Love by Matt Monroe...

Food Wastage...

Has anyone else noticed the amount of food wastage people leave on their plates?  As we sat down for coffee this morning the plates had yet to be cleared from previous customers. Just barely a bite taken from each! I have noticed times, too numerous to even mention, where a snack is served with a salad on the side of the plate only for people to leave the salad altogether! It amazes me that people would eat...whatever..served with chips (french fries in the U.S.) eat the chips and leave the healthiest part of the meal...the salad...on the plate only to be thrown away. It's not just there for decoration it's there for nourishment. The care and attention that someone has gone to to grow it..care for it..pick it and package it and send to market to be delivered to the shop only to end up in the rubbish bin. The farmer must be heartbroken if they only knew. Of course they would have been paid...most likely not enough...but paid all the same. But that's really not the point! Jus...

Before Social Media...

Just got to thinking... Back in the days before social media...which wasn't really that long ago..we had the threat of another form of  Coronavirus... SARS severe acute respiratory syndrome. In November 2002 this form of atypical pneumonia began spreading around the world in which the World Health Organisation declared it to be "a world wide heath threat."  It was scary...often in the news and no one knew exactly what to expect. SARS was an airborne virus...the same as Covid-19 now. It was the first severe transmissible disease to emerge in the 21st century. Spread the same way the current pandemic is now by droplets of saliva, surfaces that have been touched by someone infected by the virus, and spread quickly around the world by international travel. The illness spread to 29 countries where 8096 people caught it and 774 of those people died. Only eight people in the United States caught SARS and none of them died. The SARS outbreak was contained in July 2003. Since 200...

Too Much Love???...

Can you ever have too much love for a pet?  No...not at all as they depend on us for so much...for their very lives in fact. I have had, or I should say have shared in the life of, a very good friend. Some may say it is just a bird..so what! I disagree...so much so that I often worry if anything should happen to me what would happen to her?   Merle an Australian Galah and I have been together for over thirty years now. A very long time you would have to agree. She doesn’t look much like the glossy photos of Galahs one would see in National Geographic or some such glossy magazine as after thirty years she is looking maybe a little worse for wear. I guess we all are come to that!   She walks on the heal of one leg rather than the foot as the foot is rather bent under now. She appears to be in no pain. I am always aware of that and wouldn’t like her to suffer at all.   Rarely in her house during the day and often Loves to sleep  on the bed...

Whatever Will Be Will Be :( ....

I was just told today it's the vaccinated people that are spreading this Corona Virus! I  don't know where we are heading with this I really don't. It's beyond all my comprehension. A religious person I know, un-vaccinated I add, says..."whatever will be...will be". Unless we are all on the same page with this "thing" we will never get over it and it will mutate and mutate again into something we have no cure for AT ALL. Maybe that's what some want? I find it a frightening situation...frightening Indeed.

Sometimes It Can Be All Too Much....

Did you catch the news today...Chipmunks at Lake Tahoe In the U.S. have been tested carrying ...wait for it this’ll  make your day...the bubonic plague!( I have no idea just why they would be testing for that anyway?) And people have been warned to stay clear of certain areas and not to come in close contact with these animals.   What with Bats carrying some form of Rabies, Coronavirus even Ebola, all we need to happen at the moment is the swarm of locusts...oh I think we had those last year... the anti Christ appearing... oh wait some say that has already happened if you follow American politics! Now with this terribly cruel virus that is gripping the world with it's changing variants causing many people to die....and so many countries burning up with record temperatures never before heard of in our lifetime..in many lifetimes. Sometimes with so much happening in the world it almost ...and I add I am not really a religious person...but at times it does almost seem lik...
